    Garden City Parks and Recreation

    Adventures in Garden City await you this summer. Garden City Parks and Recreation is participating in both the Splash Across Kansas and the Par Across Kansas program.     Cities Connecting Children to Nature, a partnership of the Children & Nature Network and the National League of Cities, invites organizations to participate in a CCCN Regional, State Nature Connection cohort to build capacity for building a network of cities collectively increase equitable access to high quality outdoor experiences and nature-based learning for children.

    This two-year peer learning and technical assistance engagement will build the capacity of participating organizations to support cities in advancing equitable nature connection strategies. Applications are due July 1st.

    Interested in helping to prioritize outdoor recreation projects and strategies in Kansas?    ‍♀️  ‍♂️ Simply fill out this short survey, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TH96Q2S, to give feedback on your use of outdoor recreation in 2019.

    This Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) survey results will influence where federal and state funds for outdoor recreation are distributed.

    OUTDOOR RECREATION refers to any form of outdoor activity pursued during your leisure time that provides personal enjoyment and satisfaction, including activities like camping, hunting, jogging, fishing, hiking, picnicking, playing outdoor sports (e.g., golf, soccer), etc.

    Dodge City Parks and Recreation

    Don't forget to include a stop in Dodge City, the "Queen of Cowtowns", in your summer plans. Dodge City is rich in history and long on fun.     Visit Hutchinson

    Hutchinson is located in the Kansas prairie and an easy drive from anywhere in the state. Plan a stay-cation in Hutch by making a splash at Salt City Splash or hit the greens at Carey Park Golf Course.  Hutchinson Recreation Commission is participating in Splash Across Kansas, and the City of Hutchinson is participating in the Par Across Kansas program.

    Plan your visit around local events and attractions.  Visit the Cosmosphere, Dillons Nature Center or catch a NBC World Series baseball game between August 4-8. Find out about upcoming events and places to eat at Visit Hutch.

    Salt City Splash has many amazing features:

    • Tiny Tot Pool: The first is a tiny tot pool that has zero-depth entry and extends to nine inches deep in the center. This pool is for children 7 years old and younger and their parents. The pool includes a slide shaped as a crab and playful sprays and fountains. Attached is a small playground area on land.
    • Shallow/Splash Pool: The second body of water is a shallow water play pool that has zero-depth entry and extends to three-and-a-half feet at its deepest point. It includes two floating toy/play features. It also has a slide shaped like an octopus. This pool features an interactive attraction with sprays and fountains that patrons can control with accessible valves.
    • Catch Pool/Slides: The third pool is a catch pool that is three-and-a-half feet deep. Patrons land in this body of water when going down one of the two large slides. The pool features two slides – a blue, 141-foot open flume slide and a yellow, 89-foot enclosed tube slide.
    • 50-Meter Pool: The largest body of water is a 50-meter pool. This pool includes two basketball goals, a red drop slide, two diving boards (1-meter and 3-meter), and two large floating toys. It also features two lap lanes exclusively for adults who want to exercise and swim laps.
